Jim Lebenthal, partner and chief market strategist at Cerity Partners, chose Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated, which reported second-quarter sales of $3.334 billion on Aug. 3, above the $3.232 billion analyst consensus, and raised its FY2026 sales guidance. Vertex earnings were $4.73 per share, matching consensus. Joshua Brown, co-founder and CEO of Ritholtz Wealth Management, recommended Uber Technologies, Inc., following Uber and Baidu Inc.’s launch of fully driverless Apollo Go robotaxis (autonomous vehicles operating without a human driver) on Uber’s platform in Dubai. New Horizon Luxury Transport will operate the fleet. ServiceNow shares gained 2% to close at $129.75, Vertex shares fell 2.1% to $540.26 and Uber shares rose 0.7% to $78.55 on Thursday.
