Bitcoin rose more than 20% last week for its biggest weekly gain since March 2024 as changing liquidity conditions in the U.S. Treasury market prompted investors to reassess the market, crypto trading firm QCP Capital said. Large-scale short covering drove the early rally, while buying later spread into spot markets. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded about $2.6 billion in net inflows, the biggest weekly inflow since October last year, according to QCP Capital. The firm said the U.S. Treasury's announcement that it would double the size of its long-term Treasury buybacks was effective, with long-term Treasury yields subsequently falling and the dollar weakening as Bitcoin and gold rose. QCP Capital described the buybacks as a debt-management measure rather than quantitative easing, or QE, while noting that macroeconomic uncertainty remains.
