The Multicultural Business Coalition sued New York City and Mayor Zohran Mamdani in New York County Supreme Court on Monday over a plan to open five government-owned grocery stores around the city. The nonprofit, which represents supermarkets, grocery stores and bodegas, argues that the initiative would create unfair competition in an already struggling industry with slim profit margins, particularly harming immigrant- and minority-owned businesses.
