Bill Gates has proposed reserving certain jobs exclusively for human workers, even when artificial intelligence could perform them. In a new essay on AI's impact, the Microsoft co-founder calls the concept Human Reserved and also backs taxing AI usage, AI tokens and robots to reduce incentives for automation. AI was cited in 112,713 US job-cut announcements so far in 2026.
