Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ryosei Akazawa will visit the United States from September 1 to 6, attending the G20 Innovation Ministerial Meeting in North Carolina and cabinet-level discussions in Washington on the $550 billion, or approximately ¥87.7 trillion, Japan-U.S. investment package. Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama will travel to North Carolina for the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting on August 31 and September 1, her first international conference since the coordinated Japan-U.S. currency intervention in late July. A G7 finance meeting is expected alongside the G20 gathering, with attention on international support for the currency measures. The visits are intended to advance Japan-U.S. economic relations, monitor investment commitments and support international financial coordination.
