Dormant BTC activity has dropped to its lowest level since the third quarter of 2022, Galaxy Research said, indicating that long-term holders are overwhelmingly choosing to retain their positions rather than sell. Just 553 BTC moved from six old wallets between Aug. 16 and 26, an episode the firm characterized as exceptional rather than typical. When older coins remain inactive, they do not reach exchanges, add immediate selling pressure, or test market liquidity. With BTC testing $81,000 amid momentum from U.S. government Treasury purchases, Galaxy Research said the pattern supports further upside rather than downside. The firm added that the structural outlook remains positive because reduced pressure from circulating supply lowers resistance to price gains.
