Tokenized stock activity accelerated in August, with monthly transfer volume rising more than 415% over the past 30 days to $29.5 billion, according to RWA.xyz. Monthly active addresses increased more than 209% to about 1.3 million, while tokenized stock holders rose 167% to 2.36 million. The total value of tokenized stocks distributed onchain (recorded directly on blockchain networks) climbed 1.45% over the same period to $2.54 billion, up about 637% from $344 million a year earlier. Securitize Corp. was the largest individual tokenized stock tracked, at about $163 million, followed by Strategy PP Variable xStock at $136 million and an Ondo-tokenized version of Circle Internet Group at $109 million. Ondo led platforms with $842.8 million in distributed value, ahead of Kraken's xStocks at $609.3 million and Binance's bStocks at $599.9 million; together, they represented roughly 81% of the market. The growth coincided with expanded ways to trade, hold and use tokenized equities. On Aug. 24, Coinbase's tokenized US stocks went live on Base for eligible non-US users, offering around-the-clock trading and use across decentralized finance applications. The B20 tokens include Nvidia, Apple, Meta and Alphabet and can be held in self-custody wallets. The following day, Bitwise introduced automated portfolios based on Coinbase's tokenized stocks, with initial strategies focused on the "Magnificent Seven," robotics and artificial intelligence for eligible non-US investors. Bybit added tokenized shares of Nvidia, Apple, Tesla and other US companies as margin-loan collateral in July, while Robinhood-backed decentralized exchange Arcus launched more than 95 stock tokens and perpetual markets on Robinhood Chain.
