Metaplanet transferred roughly 2,400 BTC worth about $186 million to Coinbase Prime across transactions on August 25 and August 28, then moved another 3,000 BTC valued at approximately $237 million on August 29. CEO Simon Gerovich said the transfers were custodial in nature and did not indicate plans to liquidate the company’s Bitcoin holdings. The firm holds approximately 43,000 BTC with an aggregate cost basis of around $4.09 billion and an average purchase price of roughly $96,191 per coin. Metaplanet is also proposing to contribute 2,100 BTC and $2.5 million in cash to Superplanet, a planned U.S.-based, Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin treasury platform developed with Super League Enterprises, subject to a shareholder vote targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026. Bitcoin’s price showed minimal reaction to the transfers.
