BIP-110 supporters have restarted a minority Bitcoin fork that had stalled on Aug. 8 and has since mined more than 800 blocks. Blockchain developer Luke Dashjr changed the proof-of-work algorithm (the computation securing blocks) from SHA-256d to Blake2b and reduced the block size to 300 KB. The chain forked at Bitcoin block height 961,632, stalled, and resumed when Silent Wave mined a block at height 961,640 under the new Blake2b consensus rules. New software is expected on Sept. 1. The asset is not listed on any centralized exchange, and neither CoinGecko nor CoinMarketCap displays a token ticker. BIP-110 developer Chris Guida said the project does not use centralized KYC exchanges and advocates acquiring and using Bitcoin through goods and services transactions.
