Retail sales in Cyprus rose 8.9% year-on-year in July 2026, up from 5.5% in June and the strongest growth since January. Growth accelerated for food, beverages and tobacco in non-specialized stores, information and communication equipment, other household equipment, cultural and recreation goods, and pharmaceuticals, orthopedic goods and cosmetics. Sales also returned to growth for automotive fuels and for flowers, plants, watches, jewellery, optical goods and second-hand goods. In contrast, growth slowed for clothing and footwear and for goods not in stores. From January through July, retail sales increased 6.3% from the same period a year earlier.
