Andreessen Horowitz, known as a16z, is leading the Series C equity raise for Félix, a WhatsApp-based remittance platform focused on the U.S.-to-Latin America corridor. Founded by Manuel Godoy and Bernardo García, Félix uses a conversational AI agent for onboarding, transaction processing and customer support, while settling most transfers in USDC and converting funds into local currencies through payout partners. The company says customers do not directly interact with crypto. Félix reports processing more than $8 billion and serving six million people across 11 markets, with most new users coming through word of mouth. Its founders built the business around remittance markets where transfers can cost about 5%, while $161 billion was sent to Latin America and the Caribbean in 2024, roughly 80% from the U.S. a16z says remittances could provide a foundation for Félix to add credit and savings products for a U.S. Latino population generating roughly $4 trillion in annual economic output but underserved by traditional finance. The announcement did not disclose the round’s size.
