Kalshi has barred Laurie Buckhout, a Republican House candidate in North Carolina, from trading on the platform for three years and fined her $2,589.96 after she bought contracts related to her own campaign. The contracts were worth less than $1,000, but a settlement agreement effective Aug. 28 said the purchases violated Kalshi rule 5.17(z). Kalshi operates a prediction market, where users trade contracts linked to future events.
