Two Filipino sailors were killed in a security incident involving Saudi Arabia’s national shipping company Bahri’s oil tanker SIDR while it transited the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, Bahri said Wednesday. The company said the incident occurred at about 11.40 p.m. local time, or 2040 GMT. Separately, UKMTO (UK maritime security agency) said it received a verified report of a tanker security incident at 2050 GMT on Monday and that two casualties resulted. UKMTO did not identify the vessel or say whether the casualties were deaths or injuries. No environmental impact was reported. Authorities are investigating, and vessels have been advised to transit cautiously and report suspicious activity to UKMTO.
