Zcash (ZEC) reached $979 on Sept. 3 after rising nearly 17% in 24 hours, extending gains to 64.7% over two weeks, 88.1% in 30 days and about 353% in six months. The rally has increased mining profitability and pushed Zcash hashrate (total computational mining power) to 91% of its record level. Network hashrate peaked at 27.9 GSol/s at block height 3,463,689 on Aug. 28. Bitmain’s Z15 Pro was the most profitable ASIC miner, with estimated daily returns of $59.09, although the machine and other Z15 models were unavailable through Bitmain. The mining economics remain highly sensitive to ZEC’s price, meaning hashpower could retreat quickly if the token falls.
