October-delivery WTI (West Texas Intermediate, a crude oil benchmark) was trading at $90.72 a barrel, down 0.6% from the previous session, as military tensions between the United States and Iran eased somewhat. No new attacks by either country were reported overnight, putting pressure on oil prices after their recent surge. The U.S. government has also said it wants to prevent tensions from escalating into a broader conflict. Concerns about possible crude supply disruptions remain because of continued tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, leaving WTI on track for its biggest weekly gain since July.
