Nvidia shares rose as much as 2% on Friday before paring gains, closing at $230.36 and nearing their record high of $235.74 set on May 14. The advance followed a broader climb in AI-related semiconductor stocks and came as reports indicated AI developer Anthropic was preparing to file for an IPO. Nvidia committed up to $10 billion to Anthropic last year. The company also announced the nearly $13 billion acquisition of Hugging Face, an open-weight AI model hub, which Nvidia said is used by more than 18 million developers and creators and 200,000 companies. Nvidia has additionally announced a $3.5 billion investment in Taiwanese chip designer MediaTek, which plans to adopt Nvidia’s NVFusion platform. The moves broaden Nvidia’s reach across the AI ecosystem as hyperscalers increasingly use custom silicon.
