StackingDAO’s first Bitcoin staking pool has filled its 150 BTC allocation, providing an early demand signal for native Bitcoin yield through the Stacks Layer 2 ecosystem’s Genesis Bond program. The wider Bitcoin Staking program under PoX-5 targets roughly 3,000 BTC, making the pool about 5% of total capacity. Xverse and Fast Pool still have room for participants. Under the Genesis Bond, Bitcoin holders lock BTC on Layer 1, the Bitcoin blockchain, while pairing it with STX tokens on Stacks. The arrangement requires no bridging or transfer of custody to a third party and targets an initial annual percentage yield of approximately 3%. StackingDAO is also launching stBTC, a liquid staking token that lets users automatically compound sBTC rewards while retaining a transferable position for use across DeFi (decentralized finance) applications on Stacks. The current phase limits ecosystem pools operated by experienced STX stackers to about 10% of total bonding capacity and is overseen by the Stacks Endowment. The Genesis Bond is scheduled to launch on September 10, 2026, when the program’s first year will conclude. The system is then set to move to PoX-6, a permissionless auction mechanism allowing anyone to compete for staking slots. Investors are watching how increased Bitcoin deposits affect demand for STX pairing and how open auctions influence competition and yields.
