Autoliv has advanced its Human Body Model (HBM) Safety Suite, a virtual testing platform designed to help automakers assess crash performance and occupant injury mechanisms alongside physical testing. Toyota is the first customer to begin evaluating the platform, which combines a detailed digital representation of human anatomy with software for analysis, visualization and decision-making. Autoliv plans to make the platform more broadly available across the industry in 2026 as regulations and consumer-rating programs increasingly incorporate virtual methods. The company says the system can provide earlier insights, support protection for a more diverse range of occupants, reduce development lead times and improve cost efficiency.
