SK Hynix shares climbed 2.27% to $181.02 in premarket trading Tuesday as a broad rally in AI memory-chip companies focused attention on tightening supply. TechInsights chief strategy officer Dan Kim expects the memory crunch to worsen as artificial-intelligence data centers consume more DRAM (dynamic random-access memory) and other memory products. The Financial Times reported that Kim expects market conditions to remain at the highest level of strain through at least the end of 2027, while TechInsights forecasts DRAM prices will rise more than 200% year over year. Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and Micron dominate mainstream DRAM, while SK Hynix has an advantage in high-bandwidth memory. New fabrication plants require two to six years to build, with Samsung and SK Hynix expanding in South Korea and Micron adding capacity in Idaho. Analysts maintain a Buy consensus on SK Hynix, with an average price forecast of $248, while recent broker actions included Needham's $220 forecast and Buy rating on Aug. 24, plus Outperform initiations from Wolfe Research and RBC Capital at $200 on Aug. 4. Benzinga Edge assigns the stock a Growth score of 98.39, a Value score of 55.91 and a price-to-earnings ratio of 10.6.
