AMD doubled its forecast for the 2030 artificial intelligence total addressable market to $2 trillion from a previous $1 trillion range, while saying Meta and two unnamed AI labs had submitted Helios rack-scale system demand forecasts above their initial procurement agreements. Shares rose as much as 7% intraday before closing 5.9% higher. Management said inference has become the primary driver of AI compute demand growth over the past 12 months as workloads move from chatbots toward more compute-intensive agentic AI systems. AMD plans to launch its MI450 GPU this quarter, ramp volume through the fourth quarter and into 2027, and expects its data center business to more than double next year. Server CPU revenue is projected to grow more than 80% year over year in the second half of this year and remain above 70% next year. AMD is also collaborating with three core customers on MI500 and MI600 chips and disclosed a partnership with Cerebras, with low-latency inference a central focus. The MI450 launch, fourth-quarter shipment ramp and 2027 Helios delivery cadence will be key tests of the forecast.
