Amazon Leo has commissioned six additional launches from Arianespace’s Ariane 6, taking its total orders to 24 by 2031. The new missions will begin in 2029 using the higher-capacity Ariane 64. Amazon is building a low-Earth orbit network of thousands of satellites to provide global broadband and compete with SpaceX’s Starlink. Arianespace has already deployed 100 Amazon Leo satellites on three Ariane 6 missions this year. The agreement deepens Amazon’s reliance on Europe’s main launcher amid a shortage of U.S. launch capacity, although SpaceX remains far larger in launch activity. Arianespace said additional business would bring its new launch commitments to 10, while its overall order book stands at about 30 launches, with availability in 2029 and 2030.
