AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron endorsed U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC, U.S. securities regulator) Chair Paul Atkins’ policy on tokenized stocks and highlighted three principles: investor protection must remain in place, synthetic assets should not be used, and securities issuers should be able to object to trading their shares on tokenized securities venues. Aron said the SEC framework indicates that eligible tokenized stocks should carry full voting and dividend rights, with public companies retaining the ability to prevent their securities from being traded in tokenized form. He also urged Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev to apply the same standards to Robinhood’s overseas stock-token business. The appeal comes after the SEC approved a temporary, conditional Innovation Exemption that permits limited trading of tokenized stocks on some on-chain venues known as tokenized securities venues, or TSVs.
