Anthropic plans to stage its initial public offering (IPO), or first public sale of shares, in November, later than many investors expected. The AI company had been expected to pursue a record-breaking offering in October, according to people familiar with the matter. Some advisers believe waiting would allow Anthropic to release third-quarter financial results showing a strong competitive position, even after rival OpenAI launched its newest model, Astra, in September. The timing comes as leaders of the largest companies competing in artificial intelligence call for a slowdown in technology development.
