Solana decentralized exchanges (DEXs) processed 208 million trades during the week of September 14–20, exceeding the 189 million executed by the NYSE and marking the first reported instance of a blockchain network surpassing a major traditional stock exchange in weekly trade count. The comparison was published on September 21 by Vibhu Norby, who built and maintains flipthe.market, using data from Blockworks Research. Solana remained behind Nasdaq, which processed roughly 313 million trades, or about 53% more than Solana's pace. The figures measure different types of activity: Solana's total counts completed swaps on fee-paying spot DEX pools, while the NYSE figure covers executed equity orders during the regular 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET session. NYSE trades generally carry much higher dollar values, whereas Solana's activity includes memecoin, stablecoin, tokenized-equity and DeFi swaps, often involving small amounts. Pump.fun generated approximately 118 million trades, or about 57% of Solana's total, during the week, while Raydium and Jupiter added further routing. Solana's continuous operation, low fees and global access also allow trading outside U.S. market hours. Tokenized-equity trading contributed to the activity, with Solana tokenized stocks exceeding the combined NYSE and Nasdaq dollar volume on September 12; Raydium handled more than 90% of that settlement, and the tokenized-equity holder base exceeded 727,000. Solana's DeFi TVL ranged from $5.72 billion to $6.2 billion through September, while weekly DEX volume reached $17.3 billion. The crossing is the first confirmed instance for the September 14–20 week, but whether it becomes a sustained baseline will depend on continued activity in tokenized equities, memecoins and DeFi routing.
