China’s commerce minister Wang Wentao expressed support for Chinese automakers investing in Europe during a meeting with Hildegard Mueller, head of the German Association of the Automotive Industry. Wang said China remains committed to resolving automotive-sector issues through the China-EU trade consultation mechanism, guided by compliance, balance and non-discrimination. He also urged the European Union not to adopt protectionist measures that could restrict or close markets and contribute to broader global fragmentation. The meeting took place as China and Europe continue discussions on automotive trade and investment.
