Meta Platforms' Muse AI agent reached No. 1 on Apple's U.S. App Store after its Sept. 8 launch, prompting JPMorgan to say it could become the most widely used consumer AI application since ChatGPT. Analyst Doug Anmuth cited Muse's user-friendly interface, free tier and Meta's distribution across social platforms serving billions of daily users. Muse recorded about 2.5 million U.S. downloads and roughly 557,000 daily active users through Sept. 19, while its first 12 days on iOS slightly exceeded ChatGPT's comparable downloads. Early reviews highlighted its ability to execute multi-step tasks with limited user intervention, although Bank of America said advertising, subscriptions and commissions were unlikely to become material before 2028. Meta shares have climbed nearly 20% since the launch.
