HS Hyosung will work with Mexico's San Luis Potosi state to build an advanced materials production and supply base serving North America, with large-scale investment planned in phases from 2027. HS Hyosung signed an investment memorandum of understanding (MOU), a preliminary cooperation agreement, with the state government at the Korea-Mexico Business Forum at the World Trade Center in Mexico City on Sep. 25 local time. Mexico's Minister of Economy Marcelo Ebrard and San Luis Potosi's Minister of Economic Development Mario Garcia Valdez attended the signing. HS Hyosung representatives separately met Ebrard to discuss local investment plans, future expansion and government support. The company produces materials for the aerospace, defense and energy industries, including tire cords, which have the top global market share. CEO Sung Nak-yang said the investment would position Mexico as a key link between North American and global markets while strengthening local supply chains and creating jobs. HS Hyosung plans to finalize execution details before full-scale investment begins in 2027.
