Mavi, an AI-powered talent marketplace founded in 2023 by Molly Liu and Aman Puri, has emerged from stealth with more than 3,000 accounting professionals on its platform. The company connects U.S. businesses with AI-proficient global financial and accounting talent for full-time, long-term roles, while handling cross-border contracts, legal and compliance requirements, and payroll. Mavi disclosed that it raised a $4 million seed round led by Harlem Capital last year, and said its enterprise clients include personal care company Athena Club. Liu, Mavi's co-CEO, said the U.S. accounting profession is shrinking while many remaining professionals lack the AI skills companies increasingly need. She also argued that automation could reduce entry-level finance roles, making it harder to develop mid-level talent and increasing the need for experienced professionals who can apply judgment to AI-generated work. Mavi defines an AI-proficient accountant as someone with accounting fundamentals who can direct AI tools, assess their output, integrate LLMs into workflows, and use AI-native ERPs and other tools.
