Qatari mediators will take new proposals to the United States on how to satisfy Iran’s conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said late Monday. After another meeting with the mediators in New York, Araghchi said their ideas would be presented to Washington and that a final response could be relayed to Tehran by Tuesday. He said exchanges involving Qatari and Pakistani mediators had continued but become more serious after Iran submitted its latest proposal. Araghchi, who planned to leave New York for Tehran within hours, said Tehran had also used meetings in New York to communicate its reopening conditions to Washington and the international community.
