U.S. stock futures rose Wednesday evening after Micron Technology Inc. reported adjusted fiscal fourth-quarter earnings of $33.42 per share, beating expectations of $31.16, and issued current-quarter EPS guidance of $38.15, plus or minus $1.00, above estimates of $36.02. The results reinforced confidence that artificial intelligence (AI) demand will continue supporting chipmaking and technology valuations, although Micron shares gave up their aftermarket gains after the earnings call. Concerns about softer current-quarter gross margins, higher fiscal 2027 operating expenses and limited detail on shareholder returns also weighed. Broader gains remained restrained by rising Treasury yields, mixed September performance and uncertainty ahead of Friday’s nonfarm payrolls report. The 10-year Treasury yield reached a fresh 19-year high and remained above 5.2%, despite softer-than-expected August PCE price index data and questions over how aggressively the Federal Reserve can raise interest rates.
