Japan's Nikkei Stock Average extended its gains during the October 1 morning session on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, closing at 68,355.81. The index rose 1,602.09 yen, or 2.40%, from the previous day as strong earnings from U.S. semiconductor giant Micron Technology drove concentrated buying.
