Romania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 6.4% in August 2026, unchanged from July. The number of unemployed people rose by 3.4 thousand month-on-month and 28.6 thousand year-on-year. The unemployment rate for men increased to 6.3% from 6.2%, while the rate for women fell to 6.5% from 6.7%. People aged 25–74 represented 76.5% of all unemployed people, and their unemployment rate held at 5.2%. The overall rate was higher than the 6.1% recorded in August 2025.
