Buying pressure in the Bitcoin futures market has reached its highest level in about six weeks, while open interest (OI) is rising as traders rebuild positions. On Oct. 2, on-chain analyst Axel Adler Jr. said Bitcoin’s Positioning Pressure indicator reached 4.9, its second-highest reading in 90 days after 5.1 on Aug. 19. Bitcoin OI rose about 3% in 24 hours to 310,800 contracts from 301,900, while the price increased to $85,300 from $83,400. OI has added more than 15,000 contracts since Sept. 30. The increase does not guarantee further gains: OI reached 347,300 on Sept. 21 before dropping by 52,000 over the next nine days. Adler identified $85,000 and $83,000 as important thresholds. Holding above $85,000 could indicate that Bitcoin is retaining its recent gains, while long positions opened above $83,000 could incur larger losses if the price falls below that level. Liquidations of those positions could deepen the decline.
