Upbit, one of South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has placed BLAST under a trading alert and temporarily suspended BLAST deposits after Ethereum announced that its Layer 2 network, Blast, would cease operations. The exchange said the project’s commercial operations lacked sufficient credibility and sustainability and warned that the situation could harm users. The measure covers the BLAST/KRW, BLAST/BTC and BLAST/USDT trading pairs, with the warning period scheduled to run from October 12-16, described as the third week of October. The alert does not constitute a permanent delisting. Upbit may lift the warning, extend its review or end support for BLAST if the underlying issues are not fully resolved. The exchange also cautioned that BLAST tokens sent to Upbit during the suspension might not be credited and, in some cases, might not be recoverable. The Blast team said it was ceasing operations because network maintenance costs exceeded revenue.
