Adam Iza admitted a Hobbs Act conspiracy tied to the attempted abduction of Veer Chetal’s parents as prosecutors also pursue a separate California case involving Meta account fraud and tax charges.
California crypto businessman Adam Iza pleaded guilty to plotting the attempted kidnapping of Veer Chetal’s parents in a scheme tied to an earlier theft of 4,100 Bitcoin worth roughly $245 million. Prosecutors said Iza, 25, admitted conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, a Hobbs Act offense, and are seeking at least 14 years in prison when he is sentenced in Connecticut on August 12. Court records say the plot followed a mid-2024 Miami nightclub dispute and was designed to use the parents as leverage to obtain a share of the stolen Bitcoin. In a separate federal case in California, Iza previously pleaded guilty to wire fraud, conspiracy against rights and tax evasion after authorities said he stole up to $37 million through fraudulent access to Meta Platforms business manager accounts and advertising credit lines.
