Intel shares rose as much as 10% in premarket trading on June 8 after The Information reported that Google ordered more than 3 million TPUs from Intel and that Google and Nvidia were evaluating Intel’s 18A process, advanced packaging and a potential backup manufacturing role. Citrini analyst Jukan later challenged that characterization on X, saying Intel only packages Google’s TPU v9 while TSMC produces the logic chips. Separately, Odaily reported Intel rose as high as $113 before pulling back to $107.
