The rollout begins on Optimism as Curve prepares an Ethereum mainnet launch in the second half of this year and expands lending beyond crvUSD-only borrowing with broader collateral support.
Curve has launched Llamalend v2 on Optimism as the first stage of a broader upgrade to its lending protocol, with an Ethereum mainnet deployment planned for the second half of this year. The rollout is supported by a 250,000 OP token grant and introduces support for nearly any collateral-borrowed asset pair, removing the previous crvUSD-only restriction. The upgrade also adds LlamaRisk, a new system for collateral assessment and market management, and allows users to borrow against Curve LP tokens while retaining market-making exposure. The launch underscores a phased expansion of Curve’s lending business on an Ethereum layer-2 network built for lower-cost transactions before a later mainnet rollout.
