U.S. President Donald Trump said he ordered a secret mission last month to support tankers and other commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, saying it helped more than 200 vessels pass safely and moved about 100 million barrels of oil to the open market. Vortexa said non-Iran crude exports through the chokepoint averaged at least 1.8 million barrels a day in the first 10 days of June, up 50% from about 1.2 million barrels a day in May, while Iranian crude flows were near zero. Energy Secretary Wright did not fully echo Trump’s account, saying he was unaware of oil being moved from Iran and confirming only that the U.S. military was assisting some tankers. Earlier U.S. media reports said the operation faced Saudi objections and was paused. Brent traded at $88.58 and WTI at $87.38.
