The Hong Kong-licensed virtual asset trading platform said the SFC’s updated licensing conditions also allow it to offer traditional investment products and independent custody for off-platform assets.
EX.IO said it has received approval under the Securities and Futures Commission’s updated licensing conditions to expand beyond virtual asset trading into traditional investment products. The authorization covers the distribution of tokenized and non-tokenized securities and allows the Hong Kong-licensed platform to provide independent custody (safekeeping of client assets) for virtual assets and tokenized securities traded off-platform. The move points to a broader convergence between regulated digital-asset venues and conventional finance in Hong Kong’s developing crypto framework.
