The update adds derivatives, stock transfers, tokenized stocks, a Launches tab, a USDC-secured Coinbase One card, Booking.com rewards and expanded prediction markets as Coinbase pushes beyond core trading fees.
Coinbase expanded its Tuesday "System Update" with products across AI-driven investing, derivatives, tokenized stocks, payments, lending-like card features, travel rewards and token access as part of what it calls an "Everything Exchange" strategy. The rollout includes Coinbase Advisor, an SEC-registered in-app advisory service that provides personalized multi-asset trading and hedging insights without executing trades, a single regulated global liquidity pool intended to connect Coinbase’s U.S. and international spot crypto and derivatives markets, and a new Launches tab for newly launched tokens on Base and Solana. Coinbase also said users will be able to transfer stock portfolios onto the platform, trade options for stocks and crypto, access thematic equity index perpetuals and expanded prediction markets, while earlier Tuesday it said it would launch what it described as the first real, 1:1 backed tokenized stocks of U.S. companies. Analysts said the broader push could help diversify revenue beyond transaction fees, with derivatives particularly important because they account for about 80% of crypto trading volume, according to CoinDesk.
