The new commitments bring Frontier's total to $1.8 billion and shift its focus toward scaling a handful of carbon removal technologies through long-term offtake contracts.
Frontier has secured about $915 million in fresh funding, lifting its total financial commitments to $1.8 billion and adding Anthropic to a roster of backers that also includes Stripe, Google, Shopify, Salesforce and H&M Group. The coalition, launched in 2022 as an advance market commitment by Stripe, Alphabet, Shopify, Meta and McKinsey with $925 million in initial pledges, is using the new round to help scale carbon removal technologies including ocean alkalinity enhancement, biomass-based removal, enhanced rock weathering and direct air capture. Frontier said it plans roughly 10 to 15 concentrated investments through eight- to 10-year offtake contracts, with some running to 2040, as it moves from helping launch the industry to supporting the companies it sees as best positioned to reach durable commercial scale.
