Ethereum’s next major upgrade cycle is moving deeper into testing as Glamsterdam enters a final devnet stage with all Ethereum Improvement Proposals activated. The package follows the earlier Fusaka upgrade and remains centered on scaling Ethereum’s base layer and reshaping block production ahead of a targeted H2 2026 mainnet window. EIP-7732, known as enshrined proposer-builder separation, would bring more of Ethereum’s block-building process into the protocol and reduce reliance on external relays. The proposal is tied to longstanding concerns around centralization, censorship pressure and maximum extractable value. Developers are also pursuing a path toward a 200 million gas limit, with the roadmap framed around roughly 10,000 transactions per second if those changes can be implemented safely. That remains a development target rather than a final mainnet commitment, with public testnets still ahead and the eventual package subject to Ethereum’s standard specification, client implementation and governance process.
