The new protocol offers SDK and API access, settles fully in bitcoin, and targets everyday commerce with fees of about 0.2%, positioning itself against Block's Square.
Bitcoin mining company GoMining has launched GoBTC Pay, a payment protocol for merchants that enables direct bitcoin payments for everyday goods and services. The company said merchants can integrate the system through SDK and API access, while payments settle fully in bitcoin rather than being converted into fiat currency. GoMining said the protocol runs on Stratum V2 (a mining communication standard), has an average confirmation time of about 12 hours, and charges roughly 0.2% in fees split between wallet providers and miners. The product is being positioned as a competitor to Block's Square, underscoring a push to expand bitcoin-native payments in retail commerce.
