The Osaka machine at Tennoji Mio could help connect cash users with digital assets in Japan, where cash remains widely used, as Coinhub pursues a broader domestic ATM rollout.
Coinhub said on the 18th it reached an agreement with JR West SC Development to place western Japan’s first cryptocurrency ATM at Tennoji Mio in Osaka’s Tennoji Ward. The first machine is planned for the shopping complex’s Plaza Building 2F. The Osaka installation could help link cash payments with digital assets in Japan’s cash-heavy economy, adding context to the company’s broader plan to build a domestic network of as many as 3,000 crypto ATMs.
