Goldman Sachs raised its 12-month target price to HK$700 from a current HK$433, as investors focused on the assistant’s integration inside WeChat rather than a standalone app.
Tencent shares rose more than 6% after WeChat quietly began internal testing over the weekend of its AI assistant, Xiaowei. Goldman Sachs also lifted its 12-month target price to HK$700, compared with a current HK$433, implying about 61.7% upside. The market reaction appeared tied less to the immediate share move than to a potential shift in distribution: Xiaowei is embedded directly inside WeChat instead of being launched as a separate app, a structure that could matter because access points inside dominant platforms often shape user adoption and monetization in China’s internet market.
