Vedanta lists four demerged companies on BSE and NSE

The PRNewswire announcement says the move creates five focused businesses spanning aluminium, oil and gas, iron and steel, power, and Vedanta Limited’s broader minerals portfolio.

Summary

Vedanta Group has listed four newly demerged companies on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange, a restructuring it described as a landmark corporate transformation that creates five focused businesses tied to India’s industrial growth, infrastructure buildout, energy security and self-reliance goals. The newly listed entities are Vedanta Aluminium, Vedanta Oil & Gas, Vedanta Iron & Steel and Vedanta Power, while Vedanta Limited remains the group’s flagship listed company. The company marked the listings with bell-ringing ceremonies at the exchanges. Chairman Anil Agarwal said the moment opens a new phase for the businesses as standalone companies with dedicated management teams, focused capital allocation frameworks and growth plans. Vedanta Aluminium, trading as BSE: 544780 and NSE: VAML, begins operations as an independent company described as India’s largest aluminium producer and the world’s third-largest aluminium producer ex-China. It operates what the announcement calls the world’s largest single-location aluminium smelter in Odisha and plans to double capacity to 6 MTPA (million tonnes per annum). Vedanta Oil & Gas, listed as BSE: 382914 and NSE: VOGL, is described as one of India’s leading private-sector oil and gas businesses, with a long-term ambition to scale output to 500,000 barrels per day. Vedanta Iron & Steel, listed as BSE: 544784 and NSE: VISL, is backed by nearly 4 billion tonnes of iron ore resources and about 800 KTPA (thousand tonnes per annum) of metallurgical coke capacity, with a roadmap to reach 15 MTPA and expand in electrical steel, specialty steel and green steel. Vedanta Power, listed as BSE: 544781 and NSE: VEDPOWER, is described as India’s fifth-largest thermal power producer, with 4.2 GW of operational capacity and a long-term vision to scale toward 20 GW. The company is also evaluating opportunities in nuclear energy, which it sees as a clean and reliable 24x7 power source. Vedanta Limited remains anchored by Hindustan Zinc, described as the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and top silver producer. Its portfolio also includes copper, nickel, ferro alloys and other strategic minerals, alongside Fujairah Gold and FACOR. The group said the five-company structure is designed to support long-term value creation for investors and shareholders while aligning with India’s broader economic expansion.
