The companies hired BMO Capital Markets and Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP as advisers as they market the Sonora asset amid tight copper supply and electrification-driven demand.
Frontera Copper Corporation and Kupari Investments Ltd. said they have begun a strategic sale process for the Piedras Verdes mining complex in Sonora, Mexico. The process covers a 100% interest in both Frontera Copper Corporation and Kupari Metals A.G., a wholly owned subsidiary of Kupari. BMO Capital Markets is acting as financial adviser and Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP as legal adviser. The companies said BMO has already started discussions with potential buyers and will open a confidential data room to parties that sign satisfactory non-disclosure agreements. Management said the timing could generate significant returns because copper supply remains constrained while demand is supported by electrification trends and lengthy mine-development timelines. Piedras Verdes is an operating copper mine with access to infrastructure and skilled labor, offering buyers immediate commercial production and expansion potential.
