Shengnova Advanced Materials will combine Shengxiao’s Sichuan production base and regional market access with SI Group’s proprietary technology to serve rising Asia-Pacific demand for high-performance materials.
SI Group and Shengxiao Group have created Shengnova Advanced Materials, a joint venture based in Sichuan, China, to expand biphenol capacity and strengthen regional supply in Asia-Pacific. The venture combines Shengxiao’s established biphenol manufacturing assets and local market access with SI Group’s proprietary technology and global expertise in biphenol. Biphenol is a key monomer (chemical building block) used in liquid crystal polymers, polyphenylene sulfone and other applications, and the companies said the project is aimed at serving growing demand from electronics, automotive and medical end markets that rely on high-performance materials for next-generation uses. The partners also said the arrangement supports SI Group’s broader growth strategy while allowing it to continue biphenol production at its plant in Newport, Tennessee, helping diversify manufacturing across regions and reinforce supply security.
