Saab said it has signed a contract with the Polish State Treasury Armaments Agency to produce and deliver three A26-type submarines in an order worth about SEK 47 billion. The company said it will work with Polish industry to establish maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities in Poland to support the Polish Navy's operation of the submarines and bolster strategic autonomy. Poland will also operate the Swedish submarine HMS Södermanland as a gap filler under a separate agreement between Poland and Sweden. Saab said the A26 is designed for demanding Baltic Sea conditions and for silent, undetected operations, reflecting Warsaw's broader push to strengthen naval defenses in the region.
