Capacitor price increases widened after Yageo notified customers of hikes across product lines, adding to signs of tighter electronics supply for robotics and AI hardware.
Morgan Stanley has raised its 2026 China humanoid robot shipment forecast to 50,000 units, up from earlier projections of 14,000 and 28,000 this year, while signs of tighter electronics and semiconductor supply are building. Yageo notified customers on July 1 of price increases across all capacitor products, including MLCC, aluminum electrolytic, tantalum, polymer aluminum, film and supercapacitors. Earlier notices from Murata, Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Taiyo Yuden pointed to broader pricing pressure, with AI server high-capacitance MLCC prices generally rising 15% to 35% and some scarce spot models doubling. Multiple MLCC makers at Electronica China in Shanghai were also said to be preparing further increases for the second half, reinforcing concerns that stronger demand from humanoid robots and AI infrastructure is meeting limited component capacity.
